Dear all please be aware of the important following information provided to us by our friends in the Forestry .
Large amount of felling about to start on Staple Edge, above Mallards Pike due to a Phytophthora infection. This is going to involve large areas of clear felling which is going to affect a lot of the trails up there. Obviously there are the normal safety issues with regards to felling sites etc, so a lot of the forest roads and trails will be being blocked for that reason. Because of the infection, we are asking people to generally steer clear of the area for the time being, as it can be spread really easily on tires and boots. Thoroughly washing clothing and bikes helps but obviously if the Phytophthora spreads to other parts of the forest further felling and disruption is going to be inevitable.
Thanks for your cooperation.
