DOWNHILL

About the Downhill Tracks

Expect to find a range of severe drops, jumps, table tops, berms and loamy corners, off camber and rocky and rooty sections.

The Dean Trail Volunteers have developed and maintain many of the trails so there are now a good mix of natural and manmade tracks which are super fast with tight switchbacks.

Please use the push-up track to the top of the hill, not the downhill tracks themselves. Or use Flyup Downhill, the official MTB uplift service.

The Launchpad trail is the first of its kind in the UK and has been specifically designed so there are optional ‘fun zones’ along the way, which are technical features for you to enjoy.  Cyclists on 2 wheeled bikes do not need to pedal on this trail. The trail is extremely fast and is designed to take you downhill without your own pedal power.

The Sallowvallets area at the Cycle Centre is the only place in the forest where downhill mountain biking is permitted.  Please stick to these trails and keep the rest of the forest for wildlife and other users.

SKI RUN

Descent Time:  2-5mins

Type :Bike Park

The original downhill trail at the Forest of Dean and rideable in all weathers, the Ski Run drops in through big rocky and rooted sections with fade drops. Into a fast set of turns, a hip jump, the popular tabletop, berms and road gap.

GBU

Descent Time:  2-5mins

Type :Bike Park

The track has it all including drop off’s, step ups and fast flowing jumps. One of the best new tracks anywhere in the UK. Good Bad Ugly. There is also an alternative line on GBU that avoids the 2 drop offs - so if you fancy the trail but don't like taking air, then try this! It starts from 25 metres before the 1st rock drop on the right hand side!

SHEEPSKULL

Descent Time:  2-5mins

Type :Bike Park

Super fast all the way. Through the top ‘bus stop’, then jumping into and out of a bombhole, over some roots onto the middle fire road. Flying on down from there, loads of challenging roots tempt you into braking, then anchors off into the final fast ‘motorway’ section. NEW bottom section under construction.

BOTTLE OPENER

Descent Time:  2-5mins

Type :Bike Park

Recent track in between GBU and Corkscrew. Rooty

MR ROOTY

Descent Time:  2-5mins

Type :Bike Park

Sure lives up to the name.

FLAT LANDS

Descent Time:  2-5mins

Type :Bike Park

A Separate top section, Flatland is ideal to lead into the bottom section of Sheepskull. Rooty corners darting past tree stumps lead into a sharp drop onto the middle fire road.

CORKSCREW

Descent Time:  2-5mins

Type :Bike Park

Fast and fun. Super fast, jumpy top section leads into a fast rooty bottom section, then swooping through a valley and over the finishing hip jump.
