How Much Time Have You Got?
Pick your ride by time, not trail grade
Got 1 hour?
Head straight for Verderers (Blue) — park, ride, back in time for lunch. 7 miles, mostly flowing, one proper descent on the Dragon's Tail at the end. Don't overthink it, just go clockwise and enjoy it.
Got a half day (2–3 hours)?
Freeminers short loop (Red, 6.1km) — enough time to do it properly without rushing the climbs. Stop at Cannop Ponds on the way back. If you've got an extra 30 minutes and good legs, add the skills area at the start.
Got a full day?
Freeminers long loop or Adit extension (11–17km) in the morning when legs are fresh, then Verderers in the afternoon when it doesn't matter if you're tired — it flows fast enough to carry you. If you've got DH kit, the downhill tracks run alongside; grab a couple of runs on Launchpad or Countdown before the car park closes.
Got a weekend?
Day 1: Freeminers Adit loop (full 17km) + a couple of DH runs to finish.
Day 2: Verderers + Colliers Trail extended loop via Beechenhurst and Mallards Pike — different character from Day 1, more open and rolling, easier on tired legs.
None of these is the only way to do it — they're just what we'd actually ride. The forest rewards exploring once you've got your bearings.
